Top Five for 09/29/07

Well its been way to long sense i last posted my weekly recommendations for comics coming out but I wanted to get back on the gig again so here it goes.

1) The Last Fantastic Four Story (Marvel) - Stan Lee John Romita Jr. 2 Giants The last FF story. Nuff Said.

2) Action Comics #855 (DC Comics) - Richard Donner's Superman story continues here and is not to be missed.

3) Hack/Slash The Series #4 (Devils Due Publishing) - Its still early in the series to get the back issue's. This is one of the funnest and smartest books on the market now and should be read by many people.

4) Ex Machina Masquerade Special (Wildstorm) - This is the another brain child of Brian K. Vaughan who also writes Y:The Last Man and for the show Lost. The perfect jumping on point for anyone interested in reading this series.

5) Walking Dead #41 (Image Comics) - This is one of the best comics coming out and is only getting better with time. Robert Kirkman proves that he is one of the top writers in comics today.

You should also check out this trades comic out this week.

Batman: Batman And Son HC (DC Comics) Grant Morrison rocks the first part of his run. Great read and the Art is wonderful as well.

Top 5 comics for 5/9/2007

Hello and welcome back to all you amazing readers who check this blog out every week to find out what is the hot 5 comics for the upcoming week. So i wont make you wait any longer here they are.

1. Y: The Last Man #56 (Vertigo) - Well if you missed the first 55 issues its OK because you can by them all in trade paperback form to catch up. These next five issue's are it the final ones you have been waiting for. The end of an era and the answers to all your questions. Check out this book because back issues are hard to come by.

2. Marvel Zombies: Dead Days (Marvel) - The hottest new book Marvel has put out in years with cover art to die for(ha ha). Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and artist Sean Phillips (Criminal) Team up once again to tell the origin's of this other Marvel Universe and how the Sentry made them all into Zombies.

3. New Avengers #30 (Marvel) - Brian Bendis is one of the hottest writers in comics today. Find out why in these pages spinning right after Marvels civil war events. This is a must read book with fantastic writing and amazing art.

4. Star Wars: Dark Times #3 (Dark Horse) - Want to know what happens right after Episode 3 and all the events before episode 4. Then this is the place to be to get your geek on.

5. Countdown #51 (DC Comics) - Issue 51 is actually the beginning of this series counting down to Zero. This is the start of DC's new year long weekly event that takes place in real time(in relation to other books) 52 was a smash hit and countdown could prove to be another don't miss out on all the wonder of a great year long weekly series here.

Top 5 for May 2nd 2007

The summer blockbusters are coming and this month starts it all. As always in no particular order here is the top five for this week.

1. Astonishing X-Men #21 (Marvel) - Joss Whedon and John Cassaday have written one of the best X-Men stories ever and there is still five more issues to go. Do what ever you can to get caught up and read this series its worth it.

2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3 (Dark Horse) - Twice in one week Joss Whedon makes it in the top 5 and Buffy fans wont be disappointed. This is season eight in all its greatness and there is still time to jump on broad and enjoy all your favorite Vampire Slayers.

3. 52 #52 (DC) - The final issue in DC's year long comic. But don't fret weekly comic fans because next week sees the start of a whole new weekly series "Countdown"

4. Dark Tower Gunslinger Born #4 (Marvel) - The adaptation of Stephen Kings most sacred work into comic form has blown up all over the place. People who have never touched a comic are reading this book and i think that means you should to.

5. Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1 and # (Marvel/Dynamite) - Who could ask for more Bruce Campbell and Marvels greatest characters as Zombies. Catch up on this great series that so awesome the issue's keep getting second and third prints.

6. World War Hulk Prologue and Incredible Hulk #106 (Marvel) - This is the Summer Blockbuster comic fans have been waiting for. The Hulk returns to earth and he is pissed and nothing is going to stop him. This is the must read event of the summer.

New Comics for 4/25/07

Alrighty kids now its time for your favorite time of the week again. That's right The new list of the top 5. I pick em in no special order and i hope that these are the hot ones. So without waiting any longer here they are.

1. The Walking Dead #37 (Image Comics) - There is a reason that 36 issues into this series the books still sell out. With that said shouldn't you be one of the lucky ones to get an issue before they sell out? Wanna read but don't know how to catch up? Check out the first 5 trades all of which are reasonably priced.

2. Amazon Attacks (DC Comics) - In the fall of Infinite Crisis comes the war against Wonder Woman's country. Find out all the important issues that popped up in the one year later series in this six issue mini.

3. Star Trek: Klingon's Blood will tell #1 (IDW Publishing) - Famous stories from all the Star Trek runs told from the Klingon Point of View. Also there is a variant where all the dialogue is in the Klingon launguage what else can be said. There is only a small amount of these made so make sure you get to them before everyone else does.

4. New Avengers Illuminati (Marvel Comics) - Reprints the First two issues of this six issue mini series. This is the secret history of the marvel universe when five of the most powerful super powered beings in the Marvel Universe get together and decide the fate of major events like the Kree/Skrull war, Secret Wars and more.

5. Fallen Son Death of Captain America: Avengers (Marvel Comics) - A series of one shots this is the second issue of this series showing how the marvel universe was affected by the shocking death of Captain America.

Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1 HC (Marvel Comics) - 1088 pages of old school Amazing Spider-Man reprinting his first appearance and the first 30 issues of Amazing Spider-Man plus more. $99.99

Top 5 comics for 4/18/07

This week is a slow week for comics but still great stuff is coming out from the big 2. The Top 5 Comics to get this week in no particular order are

1. Mighty Avengers #2 (Marvel Comics) - Brian Bendis cant do any wrong at this moment and this book coming off the heels of Civil War is a great starting point to jump in on. You can also purchase the first issue this week as well.

2. Hellblazer #231 (Vertigo Comics) - Andy Diggle Just started his run on this title last month so there is still time to jump on this new run of the series the first Issue he did was a fun enjoyable read from an Englishman. If you liked the movie this has all that and more.

3. World War 3 #1-4 (DC Comics) - This is on the heels of 52 which was a weekly comic that came out right after DC's Infinite Crisis telling the story of what happened in the lost year after that even. This is the boiling point.

4. Ultimate X-Men #81 (Marvel Comics) - This is the start of a new chapter for the X-Men in Marvels Ultimate Line. Great jumping on point for anyone who wants to give this series a try. Written by Robert Kirkman(The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies)

5. Army at Love #2 (Vertigo Comics) - The buzz on this book is big a look into the lives of 2 people in love and in the army. I have yet to read it but I haven't heard anything bad yet.

So there you have it the top 5 for this week also to go along with these top 5 I'll throw out a couple of trade paperbacks to take a look at.
